Welcome to the Ocean Township School District Athletic Department
We are pleased that your son/daughter has chosen to participate in the Ocean Township School District Athletic Program. We will do all we can to provide a positive experience for your child. The athletic program is an integral part of the educational process. Ocean Township athletics hopes to promote a greater desire in our student body and community to take an active role in our sports program either as participants or spectators. Our aim is to develop highly competitive athletics, while not losing sight of educational values such as sportsmanship, healthy attitudes, and scholastic achievement. The athletic program should be considered part of the curriculum and aid in promoting school morale. Ocean Township is proud of the opportunities it offers for student-athletes.
As your children become involved in the various athletic programs in the Ocean Township School District, they will experience some of the most rewarding moments of their lives. Possibly the most important ingredient to achieve this outcome is to ensure that all lines of communication are open. To this end, our varsity coaches will be holding parent meetings for their program at a date and time established prior to the start of the regular season. At this meeting the coaches will present their philosophy, rules, regulations, varsity lettering criteria, and other pertinent information regarding their program. If ever you need further clarification or questions arise during the season, please refer to the link for the Parent/Coach Communication Guide. This pamphlet will give you the proper protocols to follow should you or your child have a concern with participation in the Ocean Township Athletic Program.
Research indicates that students involved in extra-curricular activities have a greater chance for success during adulthood. Many characteristics required to be a successful participant are exactly those that will promote a successful life after high school. For our interscholastic athletic programs to be a truly successful and positive experience for our student-athletes, it is necessary that everyone understands the focus and direction of the program.
